Xbox ends super cheap Game Pass offer a week before Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 drops

CALL of Duty: Black Ops 6 is one of the biggest releases of 2024, and Xbox made a big promise to its players.

Since Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard for a massive $69billion it promised some benefits for Xbox players.

Xbox is bringing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, so subscribers can play it for free.

Those who have never signed up for Xbox Game Pass, or those who haven’t subscribed for a long time are usually allowed to grab a very cheap trial.

Xbox usually offers a month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for £1/$1 to those who don’t use Game Pass frequently.

This is a recurring subscription, so the hope is that people will continue their membership after the trial has ended.

However, Xbox apparently has cancelled the £1/$1 offer just one week before the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate recently saw a huge price increase from £12.99/$16.99 to £14.99/$19.99.

Not only this but Xbox Game Pass for Console was replaced by Xbox Game Pass Standard, which no longer includes recent releases.

This means if you previously had a £8.99/$10.99 Xbox Game Pass for Console subscription, you need to pay almost double this to play Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

This is not the first time that Xbox has removed the £1/$1 offer shortly before a major Xbox release.

Xbox withdrew the cheap Game Pass offer shortly before the launch of last year’s major Xbox release, Starfield.

Fans have seen this as a bad move by Xbox, as the offer would encourage people to continue their subscription.

As the majority of people play Call of Duty games online, people would continue their Ultimate subscription after their trial ends.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be released on October 25, 2024, so this change has been made just a week before the game launches.

While people are disappointed by the changes to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

As this is the second time it has happened, people believe that this will be the norm going forward.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the next major release from Xbox, and it is likely that the removal of the offer will likely continue past this launch.
