Score this giant 49-inch OLED ultrawide gaming monitor for just $630
If you want an OLED screen that can absolutely dominate your desktop, and you don’t want to pay a lot for it, then this is the deal you’ve been waiting for. Today Amazon subsidiary Woot is selling a 49-inch MSI OLED gaming monitor for just $629.99. Even for a refurbished model, that’s an incredible deal — you’d have a hard time finding a 49-inch LCD monitor at that price.
The MPG 491CQPS is as big as it gets for OLED monitors at the moment, unless you move up to a full-sized TV for a lot more dosh. With 5120×1440 resolution it’s basically two QHD monitors smooshed together in one gigantic curved panel. At 144Hz it’s not the fastest monitor around, but just about any gaming desktop will sweat to push out that many frames at that resolution.
And unlike a lot of other discounted OLED displays, it plays nice with gaming laptops too, thanks to USB-C support with 90 watts of power delivery. It even has extra USB-A ports and KVM support, plus a “console mode” for easy Xbox and PlayStation compatibility over HDMI.
This refurb deal comes directly from MSI, with a better-than-average 180-day warranty. Exactly how that affects the 3-year coverage for the OLED panel that comes with a new unit, I don’t know. Even so, this deep of a discount (about $1000 versus a new 49-inch OLED) means that Woot is very likely to run out of stock well before the three-day sale ends. So get an order in quickly if you’re convinced, or check out PCWorld’s roundup of the best monitors if you aren’t.
