Peladn WO4 5600H review: An affordable mini PC
Measuring around 5 × 5 × 2 inches, the computer remains pleasantly compact. It fits on any desk and can also be tucked away behind the monitor, thanks to the included VESA mount. Despite its compact design, nothing rattles, and the lid sits securely when closed.

It is precisely this cover that is the device’s standout feature. It is held in place magnetically and can be lifted off without tools. Beneath it lie the slots for two RAM modules, an M.2 SSD, and an additional 2.5-inch drive, all of which are easily accessible. An upgrade therefore takes just seconds. Many competitors require you to remove rubber feet and several screws to carry out the same task.

The cooling system uses a fan and heat pipes. It directs the Ryzen’s waste heat towards the rear, away from the user. During operation, the case remains lukewarm to the touch. The tool-free access also makes it easier to clean dust from the fins later on.

At the heart of the WO4 is the AMD Ryzen 5 5600H. This six-core processor is from the Cezanne series and is aimed at buyers seeking solid multi-core performance in an affordable, easily upgradeable mini PC. The chip does not have its own AI unit. This is missing from the platform, unlike in more recent HS models featuring Ryzen AI.

The first limitation of the test unit becomes apparent when it comes to memory. It is fitted with a single 16GB DDR4-2666 module from Plusetech, featuring chips from SK Hynix. As a result, the module only operates in single-channel mode. This is sufficient for Office and web browsing, but it does hamper graphics performance. The two SODIMM slots can accommodate up to 64GB in total. Adding a second module is the first recommendation for any buyer.

Our test unit uses a 512GB SSD in the M.2 2280 format as the system drive. This is not a fast NVMe SSD, but a SATA model. This unnecessarily slows down the system, especially as the built-in M.2 slot also supports PCIe 3.0 NVMe.
