Therefore, applications and services supporting 5G will be launched in the next few months. Therefore, the number of mobile data users will also increase rapidly. Meanwhile, the number of mobile data users has tripled in the last five years. The number of users of 4G services has been increasing rapidly in the past few years, the Nokia Mobile Broadband Index 2022 report has stated. In the coming months, 4G users will switch to 5G. So 2G users will be seen using 5G or 4G. According to the report, the number of 5G users will be around 150 million by 2024. So the number of 4G and 5G users together will be 990 million.
According to the report, it is also mentioned that each person uses 19.5 GB of data per month. In 2018, each person was using 9.7 GB of data. It is growing at 19 percent at a compound annual growth rate. Mobile data traffic has increased by 3.2 times in five years. In 2018, mobile data usage was 4.5 exabytes per month. In 2022, the same figure is 14.4 exabytes.
4G and 5G mobile subscribers together now account for nearly 100 percent of the total mobile data traffic in the country, the report said.
On the other hand, 5G service in India has started from December 2022. Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel have started providing 5G service in India from October. Reliance 230, while Bharti Airtel claims to have covered 100 cities under its network. Also, it is aimed to start the service all over the country in the next 15 months.
Data usage per person is estimated to be 43.7 exabytes by 2024 if 5G services take off in full swing. Meanwhile, in the year 2022, there were 730 million active 4G devices. The report also said that 85 million of these devices support 5G.
India ranks second among internet users
Globally, China has 102 crore internet users. In India, the same number is 65.2 crore. In America, it is 30.7 crore, in Indonesia, 20.4 crore and in Brazil, it is 16.5 crore. There are a total of 503 crore internet users in the world. Out of them 470 crore users are on social media. India ranks fifth in terms of internet data cost. In India, one GB costs an average of Rs 13.92.
