Vodafone Idea’s unlimited data plan in controversy! A step taken by TRAI
Mumbai: Networking companies across the country have come under TRAI’s radar. Since last few days unlimited plan is given to customers as a rule, TRAI has started taking strict steps in this regard. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has started an investigation against Vodafone Idea. TRAI has started an inquiry into the unlimited data plan of the company. Apart from Vodafone Idea, BSNL is also under investigation. The unlimited plan of the government telecom company is being investigated. Earlier, Reliance Jio and Airtel, which offer unlimited 5G data, were under investigation.
According to an ET report, BSNL and Vodafone-Idea offer unlimited plans. TRAI has sought information from both the companies in this matter. Earlier, Tri Reliance was investigating Jio and Airtel’s unlimited 5G plans. Now Vodafone Idea and BSNL have come on the radar.
Greedy customers?
How Vodafone Idea and BSNL have decided the prices of 3G-4G unlimited data plans. An inquiry is underway whether the price is fixed to attract customers or not. Telecom companies have announced unlimited data plans and low cost plans to attract customers. The telecom regulatory committee will take a major decision later this month on the pricing of plans announced by telecom operators.
Vodafone Idea stuck in its own net
Earlier this year Vodafone Idea’s Kumar Mangalam Birla took aim at India’s top telecom companies Jio and Airtel. Both companies had alleged that they were charging very low prices for unlimited 5G plans. But Vodafone Idea’s allegation seems to have caught up with them. Now TRAI has started an inquiry into VI.
BSNL’s Rs 397 recharge plan comes with unlimited data and voice calls without the No Fair Usage Policy (FUP) limit. On the other hand, Vodafone Idea offers a plan with unlimited daily data benefit for Rs 2,999 with a validity of 365 days.
