One of 2023’s best games is out today – and it’s on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC
REVIEWS are out, and one of the best games of 2023 has just landed.
A latecomer to the game of the year nominations, it is still worthy of a place in many people’s lists.

Alan Wake 2 is out today (October 27), and the reviews for it are excellent.
On review aggregate site Metacritic it has an amazing 88 for PS5 and an outstanding 92 from PC reviews of the Epic Games Store-exclusive version.
It is also available for Xbox, but review copies were mostly given as PC and PS5 codes.
The PC version received seven 10/10 scores, with 18 scores between 8 and 9.5 out of 10.
XboxEra gave a 10/10 saying: “Alan Wake 2 is a masterpiece, and you should play it now.”
Most reviews praise the deep psychological horror elements, and the puzzles that get at the heart of each mystery.
There is only one poor review giving it 5/10, blaming it for technical difficulties on PC.
The PS5 reviews tell a similar story, with seven 10/10 reviews and 28 reviews between 8 and 9.5.
The Gamer also scored Alan Wake 2 a 10/10 saying: “Remedy has always been seen to push boundaries, or experiment with different ideas using its own kooky melting pot of creative innovation.
“But never has it felt as accomplished as it is with Alan Wake 2.”
Again the majority of these praise the dual protagonists’ separate yet intertwining stories and their mix-up in gameplay.
There is just one outlier again, a 6/10 which claims that it didn’t stick close enough to the best elements of the original game.
Some have criticised performance issues on PS5 as well, but these seem to be less pronounced than with the PC version.
This is likely because reviewers have PCs of different quality, and Alan Wake 2 requires a high-end PC in order to play smoothly.
