Amazon just hiked prices up to 60% on Echo, Fire TV, Kindle, and eero devices

In other words, the same AI-driven global hardware shortage that’s slamming companies like Apple, Valve, Framework, and Raspberry Pi is now catching up to the world’s largest online retailer. Just last month, Roku also hiked prices on all of its streaming devices.

Here’s a non-exhaustive overview of Amazon’s hardware price jumps:

The biggest price bumps come in the streaming sector, as various Fire TV devices now cost up to 43 percent more than before. The increases are just as noticeable elsewhere, with the base Echo Dot going up a whopping 60 percent, the base Kindle going up 36 percent, and the base Kindle Paperwhite going up 25 percent.

These price hikes affect their MSRPs. For now, it’s still possible to buy some of these products at their old MSRPs as they’re currently “on sale” with their former prices. So while these aren’t technically deals, you may want to snag them at these prices while you still can, especially if you were already planning to get them in the near future.

The spokesperson went on to say that Amazon “aims to continue to offer products at accessible prices, and that Amazon will also offer promotions across its lineup throughout the year.” You can expect to see price drops during sales events like Prime Day and Black Friday, but it’s unlikely those deal prices will be as good as they’ve been before.
