Asus’ ROG Flow Z13 gets a Hideo Kojima edition, complete with retro-futuristic briefcase
Hideo Kojima is a name that gamers know well, through decades of creating and leading the Metal Gear series and lately the smash hit Death Stranding. The distinctive visual style of Kojima’s games (shaped by his long-time art director, Yoji Shinkawa) is now making its way into real-world electronics, with a new designer edition of the Asus ROG Flow Z13 gaming tablet.
The “KJP” variant of the 13-inch gaming tablet is embellished with carbon fiber touches that make it look like something Sam Porter Bridges would lug around (and drop down a canyon when he tripped on a rock). Asymmetrical design flourishes with a black-and-bronze look are combined with odd colored keys and little extensions on the Surface-style keyboard. Even the power brick comes with the skull-emblazoned Kojima Productions logo. All those stylish little touches make me kind of sad to see both Kojima and Asus logos on the front of the keyboard cover, destroying the illusion that this thing fell in our laps from a sci-fi near-future.

The crowning glory of this limited-edition tablet is certainly the carrying case. Extending the Death Stranding theme, it looks like a nuclear football, something that needs to be handcuffed to a security guard. It’s a lot less practical than, say, a $30 soft laptop case, since it can only hold the tablet and a few accessories. But dang it if that hard-shelled briefcase doesn’t look incredibly cool.

The new 2026 revision of the Z13 tablet will be using the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, just about the most powerful AMD chip you can get…though space and battery restrictions mean you’ll still be limited to integrated graphics. Even with the generous Radeon 8060S capable of delivering up to RTX 4070-level gaming performance, you might want to dock this thing to an external GPU if you want to play, for example, Death Stranding 2 at 4K resolution.

Exactly how much the regular 2026 version of the ROG Flow Z13 will cost isn’t known. “A lot” seems like a safe bet, so “a lot more” would be a pretty good guess for the limited-edition KJP version. If you love the style but you’re on a smaller budget, branded KJP accessories from Asus will also be available, including a mouse, headset, and desk mat.
