Mumbai: Nowadays, to reduce the increasing cases of online scams and malware, the government is giving users a tool to check for malware in the device. (Cyber Swachhta Kendra portal), after which you can protect yourself from malware attacks. With the increasing incidence of malware attacks and scams, device security is becoming a major concern. To address this issue and help users keep their smartphones safe, the Department of Telecom is offering several free bot removal tools. To spread awareness about this, the government is reaching out to active users through SMS notifications.
Message sent by the government to the users
Recently, the government has issued a message to all users to be cyber safe! To protect your device from botnet infection and malware, download ‘Free Bot Removal Tool’ from CERT-In, Government of India at csk.gov.in.
This SMS acts as a security measure for users to stay safe online and take precautions to keep their devices safe from botnet viruses and malware threats. But what is botnet detection and how can people access these free government-provided tools?
Cyber Cleanliness Center Portal
According to a government announcement, people can now use free malware detection tools through the Cyber Swachhta Kendra portal. The portal, known as the Botnet Cleaning and Malware Analysis Centre, is managed by the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In) with support from Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and antivirus companies.
How to remove malware and botnets?
- Go to CSK website www.csk.gov.in/
- Click on the Security Tools option.
- Select the antivirus company’s bot removal tool you want to use.
- Click Download to download the tool.
- For Windows users: Download one of the free bot removal tools like eScan Antivirus, K7 Security or Quick Heal.
- For Android users: Go to Google Play Store and download ‘eScan CERT-IN Bot Removal’ tool developed by C-DAC Hyderabad or search for ‘M-Kavach 2’.
- Once the app is downloaded, run it on your device. The app will scan your device for malware and remove any viruses found.
