All 21 games announced at Nintendo Indie World April 2023 – including some out now

NINTENDO recently held its April 2023 indie showcase with a number of exciting games, DLC and sequels.

The games are coming out all the way until the end of 2023 and beyond, including some that were released after the show.

A number of popular games are receiving sequels including Oxenfree and Teslagrad.

Here’s everything you announced at Nintendo’s April 2023 Indie World showcase.

Releasing today

Teslagrad 2 & Teslagrad Remastered – today

Teslagrad 2 follows in the footsteps of the original, using electromagnetic powers to move around this 2D puzzle platformer.

The remaster of the original includes 10 new levels and can be purchased separately or as a double pack.

Shadows over Loathing – today

The sequel to West of Loathing, in this Western-style stickman RPG you uncover a mystery with the series classic humour.

Shadows has various job roles you can fill in order to change up your playstyle. The physical version will be released in Autumn 2023.

Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach – today

In a fuller version of Five Nights of Freddy’s, you explore the warehouse while dodging jumpscares.

Releasing Spring 2023

Cult of the Lamb: Relics of the Old Faith DLC – April 24, 2023

Includes new versions of the four guardians, as well as new types of building and followers for Cult of the Lamb.

The DLC also adds a whole new quest line, as well as Permadeath, Gauntlet and Bosh Rush modes.

A Little to the Left: Cupboards and Drawers DLC – June 2023

This DLC will bring 25 new puzzles and new places that you have to rearrange.

In this puzzle game you have to find the right place to put each of your items without overstuffing.

Crime O’Clock – June 30, 2023

In this detective game there are 40 different crimes to solve, across different time zones.

Open the map to investigate crimes across different eras, where changes to the past can affect cases in the future.

Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon Puzzlers Pack DLC – Spring 2023

As with the other Shovel Knight games, this DLC is free for those who have purchased the base game.

Mr Hat is here with 20 hats that change up gameplay, as well as new relics and levels to play through.

Releasing Summer 2023

Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals – July 12, 2023

2.5D exploration game where you use radio signals to travel through time and communicate with the supernatural.

Set five years after the original Oxenfree, you now have walkie talkies to connect with the locals around you.

Bomb Rush Cyberfunk – August 12, 2023

In a style similar to Jet Set Radio, you grind rails and take out enemies on skateboards, bikes and rollerblades.

Paper Trail – August 2023

This is a narrative adventure where you use and move parts of pictures to tell the story of a young girl.

My Time at Sandrock – Summer 2023

Sequel to My Time at Portia, in this farming sim you have to rebuild a town ravaged by the apocalypse.

Like Stardew Valley, you can make friends with the townsfolk, and explore the mines for more resources.

Blasphemous 2 – Summer 2023

The sequel to Blasphemous, it continues on the gameplay with more hack and slash, 2D platforming action.

There are 3 new weapon types and upgrades which will help you with your movement.

Releasing Autumn 2023

Chants of Sennar – September 5, 2023

This is a puzzle game based around a new language that you have to understand in order to progress.

Mineko’s Night Market – September 26, 2023

Loosely based on the story of Momotaro, you play as a boy taking part in the night market.

Explore the town and craft goods to sell at the night market in this cosy game.

PlateUp – October 2023

Much like Overcooked, up to four people can play together managing a kitchen.

Here you manage both the kitchen and front of house, and upgrade your kitchen to make things run more smoothly.

Quilts & Cats of Calico – Autumn 2023

Based on the board game Calico, you play with up to three people to build a quilt and attach buttons.

Your quilt will attract different kinds of cats, which you can customise as you collect them.

Escape Academy: Complete Edition – Autumn 2023

Complete puzzles and defuse bombs to make your way through this adventure.

Releasing the end of 2023 and beyond

Rift of the Necrodancer – 2023

A spin-off of Crypt of the Necrodancer, Rift follows a more traditional-style of rhythm based gameplay.

Complete with storyline and Rhythm Heaven-style minigames, it’s a complete departure from Crypt’s style.

Brotato – 2023

A rogue-like adventure where you shoot in 360 degrees like Enter the Gungeon or Vampire Survivors.

Animal Well – Early 2024

From Videogamedunkey’s publishing house BigMode, Animal Well is a 2D pixel-art Metroidvania.

Pick up items and use them strategically to explore new areas.

Little Kitty, Big City – 2024

As the name suggests, you play as a customisable cat in a city that you explore.
