Communication apps account for 23.3 percent and video apps account for 21.7 percent female participation, which is higher than payment apps and gaming apps.

The report is based on Bobble AI’s study to understand cell phone usage trends and market and user needs across various platforms. The report used data generated from the use of more than 85 million Android smartphones. The report is based on data from 2022 and 2023 and analyzes mobile usage trends for Indian consumers.

According to the report, the total time spent on smartphones will continue to increase from January 2022 to January 2023. The data shows that average phone usage has increased from 30 percent of the month in 2022 to 46 percent in 2023. The overall data found that users spent 50 percent more time on their smartphones in the early months of 2023 compared to 2022.

The report claims that India spends most of its time on communication apps, social media apps and video apps (76.68 percent of the total), and the remaining apps account for more than 23 percent of the total time users spend on their smartphones. Among other apps, lifestyle apps have emerged as the most engaging, with users spending more than 9 percent of their time on apps in this category. Apart from these categories, finance, gaming, music and entertainment apps saw more than 1 percent engagement in terms of spending time.
