Gmail adds major new feature that ensures you’ll never miss a package delivery again
WAITING for online deliveries to arrive just got a whole lot easier to track.
Google has built a nifty tool into Gmail which gives you updates on where your parcel is directly in the app.
Package tracking and delivery information will now be displayed prominently in your inbox list view.
A more detailed summary card will also appear at the top of individual emails, so you no longer have to faff around looking at each courier company’s website.
The alert boxes will show things like “Arriving tomorrow” or “Delivered today”.
The new feature has come just in time for the Christmas surge of gift parcels.
But sadly we won’t all be able to benefit from it just yet.
For now, Google is only releasing it in the US.
The tech giant says it’ll launch “in the coming weeks” and should be available for “most” major US shipping carriers.
You have to opt in for the tool to work.
A notification should appear at the top of your Gmail inbox, whether you’re on desktop or mobile.
It says: “Google can check for updates on package status from shipping carriers.”
You need to select Allow for it to swing into action.
Or you can dismiss it by tapping the Not now option.
