Google shuts down popular app today – check for refund now before it’s too late
GOOGLE is closing down its failed gaming platform today after a mere three years.
Stadia was dubbed the “Netflix of gaming” but it never took off as well as the tech giant had hoped.

Google pumped millions on the big idea, which requires no physical console like a PlayStation or Xbox.

Instead it relies on a wireless controller and a Chromecast stick – costing about £90 – and your home WiFi.
But gamers often complained about connection issues.
And it struggled to gain enough players.
Last year Google revealed it was planning to scrap the project and promised to issue disappointed players with refunds.
In November, the firm began automatically giving affected users money back for kit and any titles they had purchased.
This includes the Stadia Controller, Founder’s Edition, Premiere Edition, and Play and Watch with Google TV packages.
They also said refunds would be given out for any games and add-on purchases through the Stadia Store.
However, you can’t claim for subscription costs to access the service.
Google anticipates that the majority of refunds will be sorted by today.
They’ve asked people not to contact customer support about it.
However, it’s well worth keeping an eye out for a refund if you’re eligible and looking out for updates from Google.
“Delays may occur if the original form of payment is no longer available and we request additional steps to complete the refund process,” the company warned.
“If we are unable to issue your refund to the original form of payment, we will email you at the Google account used to make the purchase.”
Google has released one last game to mark Stadia’s sad demise, Worm Game, which was made by developers when making the platform.
And fortunately the controller won’t go to waste either.
The firm has released instructions on how to turn it into a Bluetooth controller you can use for other services.
