People are just realising how to change Google Maps settings hide your home on street view

SAVVY Google Maps users have discovered how Brits can hide their homes on street view.

A quick settings change can help protect your privacy online – so stalkers and burglars can’t check out your home.

The trick is to get your house blurred out from Street View.

To do this, head to the Google Maps website on your computer and enter your home address in the search bar at the top right of the page.

Click the photo of your home when it appears and hit Report a Problem in the bottom right.

Then, like magic, you can use your mouse to choose what parts of your property you wish to keep hidden from the internet.

You’ll be asked to give a bit of detail as to what exactly you want blurred, in case the image is busy with cars, people and other objects.

And keep in mind: once you blur something on Street View, it’s blurred permanently.

Since Google street view launched in 2007, 87 countries in all seven continents have been largely mapped out.

However, there are still some countries that don’t have street view due to privacy concerns.

In South America, Costa Rica, Venezuela, and Paraguay do not have street view.

In Africa, only Senegal, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Botswana have street view available.

China, India, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Nepal, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, Papua New Guinea, and North Korea can not be viewed.
In Germany, only some major cities can be viewed.
