How to view your full Instagram search history
INSTAGRAM holds loads of data on you – including details of stuff you did years ago.
You can check up on this info whenever you like, examining old profile bios you had, or long-discarded usernames.

What history information does Instagram retain?
Facebook has been working to improve its transparency with the data it retains from users.
And because Facebook owns Instagram, both apps let you quickly see a deep dive into your online habits.
On Instagram, there’s a growing amount of information you can find since you began using the social media platform.
On the platform, there are ways you can see when you joined Instagram, including the exact time.
Instagram will tell you about any account privacy or password changes you’ve made, as well as past email addresses and phone numbers you’ve used.
Additionally, all of your old bio texts and bio links will be visible.
There’s a Connections section that shows your current follow requests, any accounts following you, and the accounts and hashtags you follow too.
It will also show any accounts you’ve blocked or ones that you hide stories from.
How can you delete your search history?
Instagram keeps a detailed record of all logins and logouts on your account, as well as your search history.
So unless you’ve deleted it, you will be able to see what you were looking for since you opened your account.
There is also a timeline of Stories you’ve interacted with, including polls, emoji sliders, questions, countdowns, and quizzes.
And at the very bottom, you can look at ads interests, which reveal what Instagram thinks you like – which is reflected in the advertisements you see on your feed.
To delete your search history, you will first need to click on the search and explore tab which brings you to your favorite accounts and hashtags.
When you’re ready to move forward, click clear all in the top right corner of your screen to completely clear your search history.
How can you access your Instagram data?
You can find your data by following these steps:
- Step 1: Click on your Profile and then go to the Menu.
- Step 2: Click on Settings and then select Security.
- Step 3: Select the Access Data section which is located halfway down the page.
From there, you’ll see all the pertinent information Instagram has filed away. It will be split into different sections including Account Info, Profile Info, Connections, Account Activity, Stories Activity, and Ads.
Below the Access Data tab is another option to download the existing data.
This allows you to export all of Instagram’s records on you as downloadable files.
