The country’s first semiconductor project is expected to cost Rs 1.54 lakh crore. This will provide employment to 1 lakh people in the state of Gujarat.

Break the monopoly

Taiwan and Korea have monopolies in semiconductor manufacturing. Other countries manufacture semiconductors. India was dependent on these countries. Now semiconductors are being manufactured in the country itself.

38 percent stake

The project is being set up through a joint venture between Vedanta and Foxconn. Foxconn will have a 38 percent stake in the project.

Two years of waiting

It will take another two years to manufacture semiconductors after this project starts. The company expects a turnover of 3.5 million dollars from this project.

So China is hit

India has spent 15 million dollars in the year 2020 on the import of electronics products. 37% of these imports are from China alone. If these imports stop, there will be a direct benefit of $8 million in the country’s gross domestic product.
