Netflix fans ‘gutted’ as popular bonus feature is disappearing next month – but four titles will live on

NETFLIX is giving up on a popular bonus feature in the latest shake-up to the streaming platform.

The move has not gone down well with fans of the perk – especially those with kids.

Netflix has been making Interactive Specials since 2017, starting with Shrek spin-off Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale.

Black Mirror: Bandersnatch was one of the famous entries, allowing viewers to create their own story with different endings each time.

But the streaming giant has revealed it is giving up on Interactive Specials.

Only four will live on from next month, according to The Verge.

The titles that are staying are:

  • Black Mirror: Bandersnatch
  • Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend
  • Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls
  • You vs. Wild

Many of the Interactive Specials currently available are aimed at kids, with titles such as The Boss Baby: Get That Baby! and Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure.

These are expected to disappear from December 1.

“My kids like the Jurassic Park one. Bummer,” one user wrote on Reddit.

“Ah gutted my kids will be disappointed. Battle Kitty was one of their favourites, as is Johnny Test and Minecraft,” another commented.

“My kids love them, booo,” a third added.

A spokesperson told The Verge that the “technology served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on technological efforts in other areas”.

Earlier this year, Netflix’s then-gaming boss Mike Verdu revealed that the company wasn’t planning to make anymore interactive titles.

Verdu has just been made VP of GenAI for Games as part of Netflix’s latest gaming push.

The firm has been putting greater focus on gaming apps for Android and iOS.

However, its in-house game studio tasked with making AAA multiplayer titles based on Netflix shows has reportedly been closed down.
