Netflix is blocking users from watching some TV shows and movies as cheaper plan launches
NETFLIX has finally launched its new budget subscription plan but you may notice some TV shows and movies are missing.
The streaming giant has locked some favourites due to licensing restrictions.
This includes things like House of Cards and Suits, to name a few.
Anyone subscribed to the Basic with Ads tier will see a lock next to the shows available on Netflix but not included on the cheaper plan.
Clicking the show or movie will give you the option to upgrade to access Netflix’s full catalogue.
To avoid disappointing people too much, Netflix’s homepage only seems to promote stuff ad-supported subscribers can watch.
However, if anything locked is in the top ten you will notice the padlock icon.
And it’ll be on show for anything you search.
Of course, that’s not the only thing that’s massively different.
The biggest thing you’ll notice is the ads, which Netflix has never had before.
It’s designed to reduce costs, enabling the users to pay £4.99 / $6.99, which works out £2 / $3 less than the usual Basic plan without ads.
Anyone thinking about going for the new option also needs to be aware that content won’t be available in the best quality you can get either.
Instead of 1080p or 4K, you’ll only be able to get 720p.
The final big thing to note is you can only watch on one supported device at the time.
And you’re also restricted from saving your favourite shows or movies offline on your iPhone or other devices.
