APPLE’s newest iPhone may have just had its release date ‘leaked’ as some sharp fans spotted a potential ‘coincidence’ for its launch date.

The brand new iPhone 16 is set to be announced on September 9 at the company’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event.

But there have not been any confirmations of when the phone will finally be on-sale to the public.

Typically, Apple opens pre-orders for new iPhones the Friday after they’re announced — which in this year’s case would be September 13.

Release day is typically a week later, which would put the iPhone 16 release date on September 20, according to tech site Tom’s Guide.

While this is all that fans would be able to work with usually, the timing of a new Apple Store’s opening may confirm this September 20 date.

The Apple Mall of Scandinavia is set to open in Sweden very soon according to the store’s page.

Its opening date, which is set for 20 September, may fit the trend for figuring out the new iPhone’s launch date.

Since there is a belief that the new phones will be available for purchase from 20 September, it would tie in perfectly with the opening date of the Stockholm located store.

Of course, there’s nothing in the new store’s details that mentions the iPhone 16 or new Apple Watch models, but Apple is typically quite intentional with what it does and the dates it chooses so it would be a surprise if the two didn’t correlate.

But if this coincidence turns out to be true, it means you could get your hands on the new handset in less than two weeks time.

Apple’s ‘It’s Glowtime’ event on Monday is expected to see the launch of the iPhone 16 models, new Apple Watch models and a refresh for some AirPod variants.

The rumours have suggested we will see an iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, along with the Apple Watch Series X, Ultra 3 and Apple Watch SE 3, alongside two models of the Apple AirPods (4th generation), according to tech website T3.
