Pokémon has released a Shiny Legendary for the first time but it could be the hardest ever to catch

THE Pokémon Company has just announced that Scarlet and Violet players will be able to grab a Shiny Meloetta for the first time.

Many legendary Pokémon are what is known as ‘shiny-locked’ meaning that there is no way to legitimately catch these Pokémon in-game.

This is the case for Meloetta. While Game Freak has designed Shiny versions of both Meloetta forms, they weren’t added into the games.

However, Shiny Meloetta is finally here but it might be the most difficult Pokémon of all time to catch.

If you want to grab a Shiny Meloetta for yourself, you’re going to have to first own Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and both parts of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC.

You’ll also need to download Pokémon Home on both your Nintendo Switch and your smartphone.

A Pokémon Home subscription is not required, but it will certainly make the process easier.

Then you’ll need to get to catching, as you’ll have to catch every single Pokémon that can be found in all three Pokédexes.

This includes version exclusives like the Paradox Pokémon, even limited ones like Gouging Fire, Raging Bolt, Iron Crown, Iron Boulder, Koraidon and Miraidon.

For this, you’ll either need both copies of the game, or a very good friend who owns the other version.

You will only need to collect Pokémon in the Pokédex, so you don’t need to have the legendaries that aren’t included.

However, it does include every Pokémon in a line, so you can’t just catch Meowscrada, you’ll need a Sprigatito and Floragato as well.

Then you’ll have to get to transferring, as you’ll need at least one of every Pokémon from the Scarlet and Violet Dex in Home.

You can then transfer them back, so it is possible to do it without a subscription, but it will be much faster with one.

It’s important to note that all of the Pokémon need to be caught in Scarlet and Violet, or you won’t be able to claim your Shiny Meloetta.

Once you have every Pokémon from Scarlet and Violet registered in Pokémon Home, it’s time to move over to the smartphone app.

Make sure this app is logged into the same account as your Nintendo Switch or you won’t be able to claim Meloetta.

If you have registered all the Pokémon in Home correctly, you’ll then be able to grab your Shiny Meloetta via Mystery Gifts in the app.

It’s a lot of work but this is the only way you’ll be able to catch a Shiny Meloetta, and Pokémon has hinted it may do something similar for other complete Pokédexes in the future.
