The Reolink Duo 3 WiFi is the wireless counterpart to the Duo 3 PoE camera we reviewed earlier this year, offering the same wide-angled surveillance capabilities but with the added flexibility of dual-band Wi-Fi 6 network connectivity. You’ll still need a cable to power the camera–it doesn’t run on batteries–but you won’t have to deal with the complication of needing a power-over-ethernet power injector on your router or ethernet switch.
After thorough testing, it’s clear that the Duo 3 WiFi balances convenience and functionality while ironing out most of the challenges typical of wireless security cameras.
Design and features
The Reolink Duo 3 WiFi builds on the foundation of its PoE version, delivering the same sharp 16MP image quality and dual-lens panoramic view.
Visually, the camera retains the sleek, industrial look of the PoE model. Its dual lenses seamlessly stitch together a 180-degree field of view, offering comprehensive coverage with minimal distortion. This makes it well-suited for monitoring swaths of space without needing multiple cameras.
The 16MP ultra-HD resolution is enhanced by color night vision, a large F1.6 aperture and built-in spotlights, to provide vivid, accurate visuals even in low light. Motion tracking is also included, enabling the recording of full sequences of events to give you a complete picture of any activity. Smart detection features allow you to customize alerts for people, vehicles, or animals, ensuring you only receive meaningful alerts.
The camera’s marquee feature is its connectivity. While the PoE version requires a single ethernet cable for both power and data, the Wi-Fi 6 connection provides greater installation flexibility, allowing placement anywhere with access to an electrical outlet. WPA3 encryption beefs up security, offering peace of mind for users concerned about wireless vulnerabilities.

The Duo 3 WiFi supports flexible storage options, whether you prefer to use a microSD card (the camera supports cards with capacities up to 512GB), a Reolink NVR, or the Reolink Home Hub (look for our review soon). The Wi-Fi version also integrates seamlessly with Google Assistant, making it easy to check your camera feed with a simple voice command.
Setup and performance
Although the camera is designed for wireless operation, you’ll need to connect it to your router via an ethernet cable for the initial setup. Then you just scan the QR code on the device with the Reolink app and follow the on-screen prompts to login to your wireless network.
Installation is refreshingly simple compared to its PoE counterpart. With no ethernet cables or a PoE switch or power injector to manage, you’re free to mount the camera on walls or ceilings wherever you can access a power outlet. The included mounting plate, screws, and anchors make the process straightforward. Routing the power cable and securing it neatly might take some effort, but the absence of network wiring reduces complexity because you don’t need to worry about bringing an ethernet cable inside your home.
Connectivity is where the Wi-Fi model shines. Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 ensures fast and stable performance in environments with heavy network traffic. During my testing, the camera maintained a consistent connection with minimal interruptions, even in a home with multiple devices competing for bandwidth.

The camera impressed with its sharp image quality. Daytime footage is clear and detailed, easily capturing faces and license plates. At night, the camera’s color night vision delivers vibrant and accurate visuals that retain detail even in challenging lighting conditions. Traditional black-and-white infrared night vision is also available and provides solid performance within 30 meters (approximately 98 feet).
Motion tracking works well, following moving objects smoothly and providing a clear record of activity from start to finish. Smart detection performs reliably, accurately distinguishing between people, vehicles, and animals. Customizable sensitivity and detection zones further refine this feature, reducing false alerts from irrelevant movements like tree branches swaying in the wind.
The panoramic view created by the dual-lens setup is virtually seamless. Image stitching is precise, avoiding the distortions that often plague wide-angle cameras. The 180-degree perspective feels natural and comprehensive, making it easy to monitor large areas without missing details.
The Reolink app is user friendly, with clear controls and straightforward navigation. Accessing live feeds, playback, and notification settings is intuitive, and integration with Google Assistant adds a level of convenience for smart home users. You can view the camera feed on compatible smart displays with a simple voice command, a feature that works reliably and improves usability.
While the Duo 3 WiFi performs well overall, it isn’t the most visually appealing camera on the market. It’s large and not at all inconspicuous, with an industrial design that’s functional, but lacking the sleekness of some competitors. That said, this is a minor quibble and largely a matter of personal taste. Some will even appreciate its no-nonsense design as a visual warning that their property is under surveillance.
Should you buy the Reolink Duo 3 WiFi?
If you’re in the market for a high-performing, easy-to-use security camera with wireless flexibility, the Reolink Duo 3 WiFi is a solid choice. Its standout features, like clear 16MP resolution, a seamless panoramic view, and reliable motion detection, make it a practical solution for monitoring large spaces.
For its price, the Reolink Duo 3 WiFi offers great value and proves to be a worthwhile investment for most smart home setups.
