Sky Q viewers are missing three features including hidden menu that fixes apps and a bonus remote control
SKY Q boxes are packed with features – and some are hidden away from sight.
There’s even a secret bonus remote control most people don’t know about.
Sky Q is the broadcaster’s main satellite TV service that’s been going strong since 2016.
We recently learnt that a streaming app from one of the UK’s main channels is coming soon to Sky Q.
Channel 5’s My5 platform will finally land on boxes soon, with full access to the firm’s on-demand content.
Here are some useful features on Sky Q that you may have missed.

Hidden Sky Q menu
There’s a hidden extra menu on Sky Q that allows you to fix a few things.
For starters, if you’re having issues with Wi-Fi you can change the “bands” your box uses.
But the most interesting bit is probably the ability to refresh apps if you ever have a problem with one.
This button basically restarts them all for you and will hopefully fix any issues.
There is also an option to factory reset your box if you really want to – but remember that will take things back to the very beginning and require you to set everything back up as if the box was brand new.
To access the hidden menu, follow these instructions:
- Press the Home button on the remote
- Scroll down to Settings but don’t select it
- Instead, press 001
- Now press Select
Bonus Sky Q remote
If you’re constantly losing the remote there is a way to find it here.
But failing that, there is a little-known extra one available to you.
And it’s all thanks to your phone.
Using the Sky Go app you can control your Sky Q box.
The feature is currently only available on iPhone – but work is underway to add it to Android next.
Save on your electricity bill
Sky Q needs a bit of power to record shows when you’re not using it.

But it can go into eco mode overnight to spare electricity, and therefore help keep your bills down too.
To switch it on, go to Settings > Setup > Preferences > Standby mode Eco mode
