Sky issues important update to TV customers – how to fix it now
CUSTOMERS who are having issues with updating their Sky Stream have been issued with an important update to fix it.
Sky Stream has recently gone through an update, but some viewers have been left with issues and are unable to watch their favourite shows.
Stream is a dinky plug-in box that provides access to Sky’s leading entertainment service via WiFi to any TV of your choice.
But, the tech giant has helpfully released a thread on X (formerly Twitter) for people to manually reset their systems and start the update fresh.
The guide only affects Sky Stream and not the company’s other products like Sky Glass and Sky Q.
“Sky Stream – Updating Software stuck at 0%?” the company posted on November 29.
It then issued this guidance to force a manual software update for people at home to follow:
Firstly, they should switch the Sky Stream puck to standby.
Secondly, they should switch it off at the wall and unplug it for 30 seconds.
Thirdly, customers should plug it back in and switch it back on at the wall.
Fourth, leave the Sky Stream puck powered on for 30 minutes.
Fifth, after 30 minutes, switch the Sky Stream puck to standby again
Sixth, switch it off at the wall and switch it back on again, but no need to unplug it this time.
Finally, press the home button on the Sky remote. After a few seconds, the sky logo will show on screen and Sky Stream puck starts back up with the software updated to the latest version.
This week, The Sun compared Sky Stream to a competitor and found Stream was far better, but at a much higher price.
Ultimately, Sky Stream offers more for your money, including more channels, plenty of content, add-ons, and an excellent user experience.
Currently, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix can be bought in a package for £26 a month on an 18-month contract.
