Fast navigation
There are some handy remote shortcuts for quickly navigating through your TV guide.
If you’ve ever used the Sky TV guide, it can sometimes feel like a pain to find exactly what you want.
Thankfully there are a few remote control tricks that let you skip around quickly.
If you hit the Fast Forward button on a Sky Q remote, this will let you skip forward 24 hours on the guide.
That means you can easily see what’s going on tomorrow (and beyond) in seconds.
Similarly, if you hit Rewind then you’ll be transported back 24 hours.
If you get deep into the guide and what to return to what’s on right now, just hit the Play button.
This could shave minutes off your daily browsing, if you remember to use the shortcuts.
Hidden remote button
Your Sky TV remote has a hidden button hiding in plain sight.
noticing it.
But it’s actually very useful.
We’re talking about the Sky logo on your remote – yes, it’s a button!
If you press it (and you definitely should), it’ll bring up your recorded TV shows and movies.
That saves you from having to trawl the various Sky menus to find what you’ve saved so far.
Anything that you’ve recorded on the Sky box will appear.
And you can press the button from anywhere in the Sky menu to instantly navigate to those recordings.
Movie quotes
A clever Sky TV hack is perfect if you’re always forgetting the names of movies.
It lets you quickly track down a film simply by using a famous quote.
You simply use the voice control function on your Sky remote.
Press the microphone button and then say the famous quote.
For instance, saying “You can’t handle the truth!” will bring up A Few Good Men.
And “My Precious” will get you The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
There are dozens of quotes that you can try the feature with.
You can find the full list of supported movie quotes here.
One more trick
This one technically isn’t a trick *on* your remote control, but we’re going to tell you about it anyway.
If you lose your remote control, there’s an easy way to get it back.
The remote has a built-in speaker that can beep if you’ve lost it.
All you need to do is activate the feature using your Sky box.
The remote control will beep loudly for 30 seconds, allowing you to quickly locate it.
It means you’ll spend less time frantically turning sofa cushions upside down.
If you’ve lost your Sky Q remote control, don’t panic.
First make sure your house is quiet, so you can hear the beep.
Then press the Q button on the front of your Sky Q box.
After a few seconds, your paired Sky Q Touch / Sky Q remote with Voice Control will beep.
This beeping will only last for 30 seconds, so if you don’t find it in that time, you’ll need to restart the process.
