This 15-inch 1080p travel monitor is $40 now, a Prime Day must-buy
Many people have learned by now that they’re more productive with multiple monitors. But on the road, you’re stuck with just your laptop. Or are you? For just $40, you can solve this problem.
Yesterday, MNN was selling a 15.6-inch 1080p portable display for $49.99. Overnight, it dropped by another $10. Today, you can buy this MNN portable monitor for a shockingly low price: $39.99.
That’s an amazing deal for a large display that fits in your backpack and allows you to get more work done while on the road. I’m so much more productive when I can park my email and chat apps on a second screen, while using another as my primary display. Alternatively, I can use that secondary screen as a reference while working on my main display. Of course, you can use this “portable” monitor in your home office, too.
The price is the spotlight here. Feature-wise, it’s pretty standard. You’ll need a free USB-C port on your laptop to drive it, though MNN ships it with the proper cord. It’s propped up by the standard smart cover, which folds over the screen when not in use to protect it. The display also has a second USB-C port for a power supply, which isn’t included. (That may not be an issue—my laptops have generally provided enough power over an external Thunderbolt port to power an external display like this, but I can’t guarantee it will work.) Yes, the display also includes speakers, though I don’t expect them to be outstanding.

MNN
Do I know who MNN is? No, I don’t. But over 11,000 Amazon customers have given it an aggregate score of 4.3, and most of the other displays sold by the company are priced at $150 or above.
At $40, this is squarely in impulse buy territory. If it doesn’t work for you for whatever reason, return it and go on with your life. But I think it will work for you, and you’ll be so much happier on the road as a result.
