This free tool puts all Windows privacy settings in one place
Nowadays, Windows comes loaded with a ton of bloat. There are numerous convenience features that seem less like assistance and more like obstacles you try to avoid. Throw in the invasive data tracking it wants you to accept and you’re left scratching your head as to why you haven’t already switched to Linux. Thankfully, there’s an easy way to cut through all that noise and take back control. It’s a little utility called O&O ShutUp10++.
It’s a control panel utility for all those hidden Windows privacy settings—you know, the kind of things that Microsoft doesn’t exactly put front and center. Instead of pulling a Sherlock Holmes and tracking down hidden menu options, this free app lays everything out in one clean, no-nonsense list. You get toggles for things like telemetry, location tracking, advertising IDs, and background data sharing—all in one easy-to-parse place.
ShutUp10++ is fairly approachable, too. You don’t need to be a Windows power user to find what you’re looking for, but you should know that it’ll take a bit of time optimizing which settings best protect your privacy. Each setting comes with a short explanation and a recommendation, so you’re not blindly flipping switches. But if you want to play it safe, you can just apply the “recommended” options and call it a day.

ShutUp10++ can significantly cut down on how much data your system sends back to Microsoft, which is a big win for those concerned with their privacy. It’s a great way to rein in Windows a bit without going full tinfoil hat. The utility is flexible, though, so if there are certain Windows features you actually use, you can just leave them on instead.
