People are just realising genius ‘tinfoil hack’ for when you’ve run out of AA batteries

James Hawkins has shown how you can magically transform an AAA battery into an AA.

And all it needs is one cheap, common household item.

Just scrunch a little bit into the empty gap so that the battery and the connector are touching and voila.

It should work.

“AA Battery hack! just a little foil turns any AAA into an AA,” he said.

In a video the Tiktoker shows how it’s possible using a wall clock.

However, electrical safety experts have urged people to be cautious about trying it.

Not because there’s any major risk of injury.

But it could damage the item.

“Due to the low voltage there is little risk to your personal safety but those using foil to cut corners risk damaging their product and being out of pocket in the long run,” warned Giuseppe Capanna, Product Safety Engineer at Electrical Safety First.

“If aluminum foil is in contact with the copper or brass spring terminals of the device, it is likely to cause corrosion and eventually stop the device working altogether.

“Always follow the manufacturer’s advice in relation to the product.”

So next time you don’t have the right batteries, maybe consider giving this trick a go.

It could be especially useful for your TV remote.
