Who will serve first?
All eyes are on Reliance Jio and Airtel who will be the first to launch their 5G services. Because there is fierce competition between the two companies.
Spectrum given to companies
The first installment collected after the auction, the government allocates spectrum to companies based on their successful bids. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has received an advance payment of Rs 17,876 crore from successful telcos in the auction as advance payment for 5G spectrum. Reliance Jio has contributed Rs 7,864.78 crore, Vodafone Idea Rs 1,679.98 crore and Adani Data Networks Rs 18.94 crore. Jio bagged nearly half of all spectrum sold with a bid of Rs 87,946.93 crore. While Bharti Airtel bought spectrum for Rs 43,039.63 crore and Vodafone-Idea for Rs 18,786.25 crore. At the same time, Gautam Adani’s group had placed a bid of Rs 211.86 crore for 400 MHz.
