Windows 11 26H2 isn’t exciting, but it does fix one real problem

Microsoft has been working for some time to reduce Windows 11’s memory consumption, promising optimizations that lead to faster boot times and system performance on low-RAM machines. However, the company hasn’t disclosed exactly how it has improved Windows 11’s memory requirements over the past few months.

While users are reporting positive anecdotes, it remains to be seen whether these reports can be generalized or whether Microsoft has actually improved the operating system’s memory usage. Microsoft may reveal more on October 7th at its “Windows. Surface. NVIDIA RTX Spark” event.

Low Latency Profile in Windows 11

In addition, many users report improved performance with the “Low Latency Profile” feature, which speeds up the Start menu, search, and app launches by temporarily boosting CPU clock speed.

Low Latency Profile first rolled out to the general public back in June, with great success especially on older machines. Two months later, Microsoft updated Low Latency Profile with more tweaks to File Explorer, search, and app launches, resulting in an even more responsive experience.

The “problem” with Low Latency Profile was that it wasn’t immediately available to everyone—Microsoft put it on a gradual rollout, so some users still didn’t have access even months later. Now, with Windows 11 26H2, nearly all PCs should have access to its speed boosts.

You should notice the speed boost on older PCs or systems with underpowered hardware, whereas on machines that are already powerful, you probably won’t notice any difference.
